I’VE BEEN HIJACKED!!! November 30, 2009

Filed under: CRAFTERS CHALLENGE! — Megan @ 9:29 pm

Let me start out by saying…this is NOT Meg!  Allow me to introduce myself; I’m Erin, one of Megan’s friends in this crazy state we call home!  Our husbands were close friends in high school, and Meg and I hail from the same home state, so we decided to carry on the friendship tradition.  Don’t you just love Megan and her great idea?!

So, I have intended to blog my progress on “Let’s Hear it for the Boys!” this month, but some things have come up, and now, here it is, the last day of the month.  My camera is MIA, so no photos, which usually = BORING!  And I don’t really want to post about it on my blog, because it is a gift for someone who reads my blog, so I thought I would hijack Megan’s for a bit!  Ha, Megan, bet you didn’t see that one coming!!!

Anyway, last October (as in ’08—it’s pretty much vintage) I bought one of those Bucilla felt stocking kits…you know the ones, the gorgeous, brightly colored stockings chalked full of sequins.  I like the Bling baby; what can I say?!  Here’s mine:

(Please note this is not the same picture that Erin wanted to post…that picture wouldn’t copy.)

I started working on it for my nephew, Austin, then.  It wasn’t finished by Christmas ’08, then I got serious on another project—cooking a baby!  So I put the stocking aside.  I picked it back up this month, hoping to finish it off before Christmas ’09—we’ll see!  If you’ve ever done one of these things, you feel my pain!

This is a rookie effort for me, and not knowing much about needlecrafts, I thought it looked easy, peasy…no big deal, right?  Wrong!  This hummer has 104 pieces!  D-a-ang!  They all need to be cut out embroidered, sequined, stuffed, and appliquéd.  What, what!  I bit off way more than I can chew, but give me long enough and I’ll get it done.  Maybe next year?!!  ‘Course by then, I’ll have another one to do since I’ll be auntie x2!

Anyway, that’s the scoop!  Hop on over to my blog (http://littlefamilybigwoods.blogspot.com)

Elenaism November 29, 2009

Aj was laying on the couch next to me, and i was taking off his socks to put on new ones. And elena had been tickling dan’s feet with maria. Dan was pretending to sleep so she was “waking him up”. And she noticed the baby’s bare feet….

(elle) i tickle baby?

(me) yay! come get baby’s toes! tickle tickle tickle

(elle) nah, i don’t want to tickle baby

(maria) but you were just tickling daddy’s toes

(elle) yeah, because there was a blanket!

(maria and i) ahahhhahahahhaha

She said it so matter of fact like, well duh!

It’s finally working!!! YAY! November 23, 2009

I’ve been ready to break my computer for these last two weeks! Here I am telling everyone not to forget to post their progress of their crafts, and I haven’t been able to download any of it!

But here we go! I finished the craft today and it took little to no time once I got the sewing machine up and running! I’m not going to lie, I hand sewed the pockets into this thing, and it wasn’t fun…well it was fun but it was hard.

So here are the pictures of progress!

This is my new love!

so… November 16, 2009

You may be thinking to yourself, hey where are these pictures of this quilt? I thought you are supposed to blog your progress. So here’s the scoop. Computer is on the kaput, and it won’t let me download any pictures at the moment. Trying to figure out what the problemo is and it’s getting frustrating! So my progress is as follows, I’m taking this craft and extending it to this christmas as Mr. Craig’s present, so for this month I’ll be making a chair organizer for the Mr.

It’s a place where he can put both remotes, and a book and whatnots so that he has a place to put them, and be less likely to lose all of them. The fabric being used for this project is being repurposed from old clothes of mine, and it’s going to be grays and blues. I’m excited to show you the pictures of it, but if I can’t get my computer to get on the lovin’ with my camera to make some pictures, I’ll have to steal some time with Mr. Craig’s big computer down in his den.

Hope you’re projects are coming along great! Can’t wait to see the pics!

My memory quilt… November 11, 2009

Filed under: CRAFTERS CHALLENGE! — Megan @ 12:35 am

So I’m trying to find a place up here, in my middle western small town, that has the machines to copy photos onto iron on transfer paper, and the result of my searches? I can’t find one place that either will do it ( with out charging me more money that I would ever spend on four pictures in my life), or can do it. Unfortunately, this is making my craft for my husband damn near impossible. So I have had to recruit some help from out of staters! I’ve contacted the craftest crafters i know, my mom, and knowing that she’s making a memory quilt for my mema virginia, I have put her to the task of helping me out with a few squares! Hoping that they get to me soon! If not, you’ll see my work of this quilt for a while on here.

Since I can’t really show you what I’m doing yet, because I can’t put it all out without those squares, i’ll let you in on my secret for the quilt/blanket. The squares of the blanket are being repurposed from my children’s newborn clothing! And then there will be four muslin pieces with pictures of the kids and Mr. Craig.  This is going to be a hodge-podge blanket. Many different colors and textures, and memories galore! i’m so excited. The quilt/blanket will be sewed together and the accented with embroidered borders! i’m so exited to get started!

So here I am, sitting here on the couch with my youngest, starring at those big baby blues, and thinking, what the crap am I going to make for this first crafter’s challenge!?!?!?! HAHA, well then it hit me, a blanket, but not for Aj, but for my husband, Mr. Craig.

A few years ago, my mother made a blanket for my grandparents, with pictures on the fabric of memories with all of their kids. So, I’m going to make daniel a blanket…that can be added on to…just in case, of picture memories of our kids and him. This is going to be great. And to make it that much more special, I’m embroidering most of it. I’m so frickin’ excited. So here we go!

I’ll post some pictures when I get it all laid out together!
